| Post subject: | Saltwater Aquaponics |
Anyone thought of giving it a go? What would you use to make the water salty - the stuff that is used in saltwater aquariums? Is it expensive? What saltwater fish would be suited (ie yummy, hardy and fast growing)? Maybe even prawns. |

Add to the question list: What plants will grow when irrigated by salt water? Would you have to use a plant tank with seaweed instead of a growbed? |

Seaweed would be one option. |

then ground up seaweed to powder and feed to plants in the freshwater system, tying the two together. plants love kelp. ph might be an issue however. i believe eb uses liquid seaweed to "boost" up his plants. thoughts? |

Wrap your sushi in the seaweed! Or make seaweed/cucumber salad. (vinegar and soysauce dressing). Yum yum! |

i think the eden project in the middle east used mangroves to filter the effluent from their salt water fish, but they were using the mangrove leaves for feeding to livestock, and the wood for building, burning, etc... |
