Post subject:  Test kits

Just seen this post

It lead me to raise this thread.

I went to the local hydroponics shop on Friday arvo. Asked about kits to test PH, Ammonia, Nitrite & Nitrate. They only had PH kits and a probe for the Electrical Conductivity of water.

So what kits do people use and where do they get them from?

I use an Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Inc Master Test Kit (has ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and high and low end PH tests). Got it online for about $35 I think plus P&H. This is used heavilly by forum members I think.

Basically the three you mentioned

PH, Ammonia, Nitrite & Nitrate.

High and low range PH are useful in the beginning stages

www.ageofaquariums.com.au has the hagen brand kits, monya, myself and a few others use the aquarium pharmaceuticals brand master test kit.
every thing you need to get started. Check aquariums stores, or online.

That is a very good test kit, the beauty of it is you can replace individual test bottles as they run out

Thanks for the leads.

Thats the nature of a cyclic systems. I was looking at the problem as measuring the input to a plant subsystem, when I should have been looking is it as an animal waste problem. Doh! ;)

Ok, since this is an Aquaponics Forum, I assume the currency of trade is the Fish Finger?

Guys, your Fish Fingers are in the Mail!

I had my eye on that one also EB - but decided that would be ridiculous. Instead as well as the master kit I bought the GH/KH hardness and the Iron test kits. Have used the GH/KH and Iron once
