My partner and I are considering moving to the Riverland for a few years and of course it will be essential that an AP system is one of the first items on the agenda (not sure the partner agrees on that). So wondering what fish and crustaceans can be legally kept in SA.
The property that we are looking at is only 75m from the Murray river so wondering if this may be another factor that needs to be considered.
Any other information regarding the riverland and AP would be grateful

I assume 75m is 75 miles, not metres.

Yabbies, Silver Perch and Trout are the first allowables that come to mind (I'm an ex-local there).

Can't see why the other Murray/Darling natives wouldn't be allowed - Murray Cod, Golden Perch, but you'd have to check with SA Fisheries (link below).

Redfin are another possibility - they're certainly in a lot of the waterways around the state.

Reckon you'd be too hot there for marron.

I'd suspect... neither Redfin or Marron... would be "legal"...

Sorry Rupe - Marron farming in Sth Aust started in the 90's and there are nearly 200 registred growers according to SA Fisheries;

But, yes, redfin require specific authorisation just to hold them.

Really ? Good score DR.

So what then happens to the AP system you've just setup ?

Hi CD
I intend to keep the system going looking for a suitable tenant which should not be too difficult Alice being as it is. One criteria of my original AP design was to minimise human imput, I keep a log book to assess the time between maintenance and try to extend and or improve any weakpoints and less than ideal I can rely on family and friend to do a regular check.
I have toyed with just shutting the system down and selling all the livestock but it would be a shame as the system is starting to produce a decent output
It may be an attractive part of renting our stone cottage palace (more like a shoebox) to the right person

Near the store and club, or out the Loxton way a bit?

On the KOM side of the store
The place needs some work but is solid. It is on 2 blocks so plenty of room for an AP system and gardens
