My indoor fish tank is 6 foot and only has swordtails, whiteclouds, bristlenose catfish and yabbies at the moment. Answers relate to my old indoor aquarium, for reference it was a 4 ft ~200L with 3 x 15cm goldies, some mystery snails and a few algae eaters that kept carking it and I kept replacing. My aqua systems prolly haven't been running long enough to give any useful info. How often do you change water? - 1 or more per week, fortnight, longer * - I was lazy, so on average much longer. Had no testing kits and used to change when my bedroom stank too much to bear. If an Aquaponic system were made as well as these units, what would you expect to pay for one? $1000/$1500/more * - Depends on a lot of factors, but for a well made & robust & low maintenance unit unit I would shell out $1500, maybe more. Its a symbiotic, mutually beneficial relationship. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like, and it scales easily from desktop size to much much larger. What don't you like about it? * - Weird looks from some ppl when you explain the concept, being paranoid about my power bill increasing and having bought at hydro stores with my credit card.
