Would take some tweaking but seems possible.

They will soon learn electronics in wet environments are expensive for a reason. Off the shelf stuff does not do well at all in prolonged wet/humid environments. 500 bucks for the same sensor is a bargin if you do not need to replace it monthly.

I know where to source them for a bout $450... can't remember if that's inc GST though so you're pretty right.
I also know models worth $1500... crazy expensive.
