Post subject:  Shadecloth / Shade Sail

I sow the seeds directly in the growbed and I have noticed that some young seedlings (ie. choy sum, pak choy, chinese brocolli or kailan) start to stick through the media and then a few days later, they seem to dry up and die... Is this a result of too much sun?? Or too much salt??? Tank at 3ppt now...

Would the plants benefit from some shade?? Considering putting up some 50% shade shade cloth/sail if it is likely that the sun is the culprit in killing my seedlings hence the lack of harvest...

Would 50% shade cloth be suitable for both summer and winter or would the shade cloth need to be taken down during winter??

Any comments would be great... Thanks...

Many on the Aussies Living Simply forum advocate 30% shade cloth. I would guess that you would be best to remove it over winter so a shade sail type setup would make it easier.

Youd be fine with the 30%, and you need to remove it in winter for sure.
