I sow the seeds directly in the growbed and I have noticed that some young seedlings (ie. choy sum, pak choy, chinese brocolli or kailan) start to stick through the media and then a few days later, they seem to dry up and die... Is this a result of too much sun?? Or too much salt??? Tank at 3ppt now... Would the plants benefit from some shade?? Considering putting up some 50% shade shade cloth/sail if it is likely that the sun is the culprit in killing my seedlings hence the lack of harvest... Would 50% shade cloth be suitable for both summer and winter or would the shade cloth need to be taken down during winter?? Any comments would be great... Thanks... |

Many on the Aussies Living Simply forum advocate 30% shade cloth. I would guess that you would be best to remove it over winter so a shade sail type setup would make it easier. |

Youd be fine with the 30%, and you need to remove it in winter for sure. |
