On the continuous flow gb's I've been using raised PVC filled with gravel where the water enters the GB. I find it works like a filter and the worms are very active in this area. While looking around for something larger I noticed a few brake drums and wondered if these could be used. They are aged and might be able to add somthing to the system as they break down. Any thoughts. |

Nah duff, they will rust too quickly at the interface between the iron and the water. |

I'd have to think it would be too much....its not just iron in brake drums. There'd be other metals as well, and a lot of carbon. |

Bugger. Will have to go with a bit of blue drum instead. |

You could use a pond liner on them. |

Make a potbelly fireplace out of them and use as a patio heater, they work great. |

Was only thinking of them for the iron and 1" thick they would last a while. They also make great weights. |
