What is a good way to glue something in a hard plastic system? Silicone caulk do the trick? Obviously need something that can be in water and not be toxic. Thanks! |

Be careful not to use bathroom silicon. It contains a fungicide. Roof and Gutter is well used by BYAPers around the world. If allowed to cure before adding water, it has 0 measured effects (so far) |

Kuda, good to hear that. Just used some roof sealant. I was a bit concerned. Not now. What about the PVC glue. The red primer and blue glue/cement for joining pipes. I used them on the pipes connected to the pumps. Waited 24 hours and flushed them throught before use. Will they slowly kill me? |

never had any problem with that either. Fish are more sensitive than you,as they're smaller. If the fish are fine, so will you be, |

I have found solid connections that can not be bumped off are better becasue if it can come off sooner or later IT WILL and most likely when you are not looking. I use uniseals or bulk head fittings. |

Also I found them at Aquatic eco system store and it's saying for 1 1/4" PVC I'd use a 2" hole saw. Is that because the seal takes up enough extra space that I have to go a 1/4" up from what I would use if it was just the pipe? Thanks |

lookup uniseals on the forum. you will see they need a certain amount of rubber so the can expand and seal properly. yes hole size is about 3/4" larger diameter than the pipe size |

I have had to order them from their website and just recently several of us placed a large order and saved a lot! What size pipes are you needing to use and how many? I might have some extras; depending on size. |

I'm using 1 1/4" pipe |

Sounds like you have it under control then. If you ever do try a uniseal you will be spoiled! |
