Whats the best way to initialise a new system? I'm goin to see if i can use some of the sludge from a fellow APer friend of mine, is there anything else that i should do to help kick start the system? And also is it worth startin off with just some cheap feeder fish or the like, or could i get away with goin straight to silver perch and just doin some more frequent water changes?
Any opinions/experciences would be greatly appreciated

The BYAP kits are tested and designed to add fish... and plants .... from day one.... as long as you follow the rules...

the best tools are being patient, using small qty. of fish and regular testing.

inoculating defiantly helps, but winter is the slowest time to cycle a system.
try and get the sludge in your system in as short a time as possible.
