I selected this pump based on GPH,affordability and efficiency (only 8 watts).I want to use it with a 30 gal. system! http://cgi.ebay.com/Little-Giant-PES-80 ... 2|294%3A50 |

depends on the head you have to push (measured from the water surface up to your height) its best to run a slightly larger pump with less load on it than max load on a small pump. |

The pump claims 90 gph @ 3' head, I don't think I need to lift any more than that.I may consider the next size up! |

I've tinkered with some of these tiny pumps. It would probably work but won't give you much room for expansion. It may or may not give you enough flow to use a timer and you will be working with small tubing if you try to go with auto siphons so you may find getting everything flowing just right to be a bit fiddly. Here is another option, it is the pump I have running my aquarium system, my quarantine wing, and even one running my solar heater even though I suspect the hot water isn't good for it. I have even tested one out to run the barrel ponics system and it is capable of pumping enough water up about 6' for that system. ![]() http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=47117 And it is fish safe. Hooks up to 1/2" threaded fittings easy enough. |
