Has anyone seen these? ![]() They are degassing columns. Looks like a good product for getting oxygen into the water. If the water returning to the tank was passed through these we could be sure there was plenty of oxygen. 1 Segment, 76% DO 2 Segments, 84% DO 3 Segments, 89% DO 4 Segments, 92% DO 5 Segments, 94% DO I found them here: http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/3681/Degassing-Columns/degassing%20column/0 Currently I have a film of water to pick up oxygen and noting else.

Koi keepers use exactly the same principle... called Bakki Showers... Attachment: bakki_installed (Medium).jpg [ 36.66 KiB | Viewed 1564 times ] Filled with media... they also provide filtration... Attachment: Bakki-Filters-bottom-20holes (Medium).jpg [ 68.43 KiB | Viewed 1565 times ] They're basically a "trickle tower".... but do suffer some evaporative loss... On the other hand... they can provide a degree of "cooling"... and (as above) filtration... I use a single half drum in my mega system... With your existing outlet Dandi... you could increase the oxygenation by drilling a hole in the elbow... inserting a 4mm tube, glued to the top of the elbow (downward)... The "venturi" effect of the water drawing the air through the tubing "straw" adds considerably more oxygen... |

You can see the affect in the pics below... With the tubing blocked (no venturi)... the water flows "clear"... Good info Rupe! I do not have a full pipe of water so I am not sure how much if any air I can suck in. This pump is moving 700- 800 GPH; its only 40 watts. Now, when I start circulating out side again then I can do that. |
