Nope, the plastic in the pool is toxic. I remember someone in the US trying one, and kept loosing fish for no reason. The pump is very inefficient as well. |

In relation to the pump - you would get something better for 20 bucks at an online aquarium shop. Those wading pool pumps/filters have a paper type filter that is inside them and would get clogged straight away and therefore be of no use for AP. Most of the pump size is to accomodate this and I suspect their power would be very limited. |

If you "season" the pool it will be alright. I used one as my first system, but it had already been used as a swimming pool for a few months. Trouble is, they don't last long... |

good you were saved. Most above ground pool pumps are not energy efficient and you would be spending lots of extra money on electricity. Who knows if the losses some people have had using those cheap pools as fish tanks were due to residues on the plastic or due to other problems. I know of one person who was having trouble but their grow beds were constantly flooded and another person kept loosing fish but they never hooked up a grow bed at all. Then of course there is the danger of the pool getting a hole of some neighborhood dog jumping on it and draining your fish tank. |
