Hi everyone, Some of my plants leaves has turned yellow and the bean leaves are actually drying out. I got some black spots on the lettuce leaves and also under the tomato leaves! What does the plants need? The growth has also slowed down alot Did another water test this afternoon and it's as follows: PH-7.6 Ammonia- 0.25 Nitrite- 0.25 Nitrate- 20 I thought maybe it was iron so I put 5 spoons(supplied in packet) of chelated iron in (2000L FT & 3x500L GB) 3 days ago but they still dont look happy? Got about 20 Comet fish in the FT at the moment, getting some Siver Perch on Saturday! Anybody knows what I have to do cause I am still a newbie with BYAP!!! Will send a picture of the lettuce as well!

the holes might be slugs or snails...look for silver trails on the leaves and clay balls |

And a little patience, once you get more fish into there it will start picking up. |

The yellow leaves with green veins definitely look like Iron Def. One point about once you treat the Iron problem, those leaves that are yellow with green veins may stay that way. To know if you have done right by the Iron, look at the new growth that comes on, if the new growth looks right then you are doing better. |

I guess if you are in a hard water area that might account for the white stuff on the hydroton. I have the same thing but I`m not licking it to see what it tastes like |

Nah its calcium in the water causing the whiteness - also means you have flooded the beds too high at some point. Looks pretty dry in the photos. Umm - with a Nitrate reading of 20, there is plenty of nitrates, maybe just some seasol to help with the nutrient deficiencies? I'll talk to you this arvo |
