When salt is required to be put in a system is it best to dissolve the salt in some water first
then tip the salty solution in to the fish tank or just dump the salt in from the bag
and let it dissolve itself

Depends somewhat on just what quantities are involved... I prefer, where possible, to pre-mix and add to the tank... |

the other day I dumped 2 x 25kg bags straight in the tank. I would have preferred to dissolve the salt first, but I didn't have the luxury of time at that stage. |

The salt granules can irritate the fish, so it is best to dissolve it first. That said, whenever I have salted - its straight in the tank

Clogs, it is best to dissolve the salt beforehand rather than dump it straight it....but then I washed all of my gravel
