not that blue barrels and pvc pipes aren't aesthetically pleasing, but i would like to see more design go into aquaponics. i mean i'd like to see it blend into the landscape/surrounding more. i don't think we have to sacrifice looks for function, what say you? this below is going a little bit too far, but you get the point.

anyone seen other examples of good looking aquaponics? i know i know... money is always an issue.

Welcome Someguy!

During the cold Winter months I was dreaming about more aesthetic configurations, start here and look for a few pages. My next system expansion will hopefully be pretty to look at.

The second part of my system will be all in ground. A gravel grow bed at the top of the hill and a loop siphon hidden in a stone "water fall" which winds down a small stream into a in ground fish pond. My goal is to not only look as natural as possible, but also be as low tech as it can. Something like a wind powered water pump.

hey dan, sounds like what i'm trying to build myself... just started this spring and still wrapping it up. i got some shubunkins and trying to start some herb in the pea gravel. it's not completely established yet, but it's getting there.

Yep, thats pretty-much the idea. I plan to have a stream a a couple water falls over about 20 feet. The grow beds will vary from 3 to 6 feet wide and about 40 feet long.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I want mine to look "engineered" , lot's of stainless steel , large pipes etc.

hey i'm all for the engineered look if that's the environment you live in. i guess if my house was made of blue pastic barrels then holy cow a mass of barrelponics would look fantastic in the backyard!

so i stumbled across this farmfountain thing.

looks like they're trying to do some creative stuff with ap. at first glance, it looks like a little bit too complex and not very sustainable for the average joe.
