Hi guys (and gals!)

I made a little aeroponics system yesterday out of items that I had laying around.

Keeping the spray heads free of poo, biofilm and other things will be the major issue. Good luck with it though.

For now this is a stand-alone system, so there will be no fish poo issues. Gardena however has some self-cleaning spray nozzles in their product line that could be used if using this plumbed into a fishtank.

Nico,
Here is a tip for getting seeds started directly in the net pots so you don't have the time consuming project of transplanting. Use some rayon mop strings.
http://www.hydroponics.tclynx.com/
Look down that page and there are pictures of where I have used the mop strings in my "home made" net pots.

Indoors, if you are growing under florescents, it helps to grow plants that are going to all be about the same height so that you can keep the light fixture really close to the plants and of course the right color sprectrum will help. When I say really close, I mean hang the light so you can easily raise it out of your way to see the plants because when it is hanging close enough, the tubes are only an inch or two from the leaves. Smaller plants being shaded out by taller ones will not grow much since there is almost no penetration through foliage with florescent lighting. Still works ok for lettuce indoors.

I have put some aquarium filter floss into the net pots, so I can drop the seeds right in there.

For now I'm only using natural sunlight, but when the summer ends I'll probably set up an indoor system with electrical lighting
