I'm planning to use G1 gravel (used for concrete) for my growbed media. The sizes are not uniform, there are sizes as large as an inch to 1.5 inches, then some are pretty small around .25 inch to .50 inch. They come in the form of chips with sharp edges. Is there a problem with using this kind of gravel? |

that would be fine, up around 2 inches would be nearly too big |

Great thanks for the fast reply as always Jaymie. When planting in this kind of gravel, will the plant grow from seed form?or do i need to have some sort of baby plant to plant in the growbeds? I've never seen seeds grow in larger .5-1" gravel before. |

depends on the seed. beans don't like being transplanted. some seed is really tiny and might vanish into the depths. |

Sow your seeds into a cotton ball, and place below the media |

Or a piece of natural sponge. I like the cotton ball idea though. My graves is .375 inch (3/8) and it seem just fine for planting everything directly in the gravel (just above or at the flood line). |
