Is that going to be a problem for topping off a system?

I am thinking it wont be... since I will have high hardness in the water from crushed oyster shells.

I top up 0ppm water & buffer the system with oyster shell too with no problems.

The PH will run down quicker than you're used to though.

OK. Thank you. Sounds like a plan then. I was usually throwing a handful of crushed oyster shell into the sump tank about once every 4 to 6 months or so. I will just be sure to keep an eye on it this time a little closer.

I will just have to make sure that water gets buffered well before I get fish.
