You mean like this? Attachment: 20210609_163544_resized.jpg [ 220.72 KiB | Viewed 1842 times ] DAY 36 - FROM SEEDS!! Attachment: 20210716_123643_resized.jpg [ 345.08 KiB | Viewed 1842 times ] Pool filter sand can be expensive. However, I found a supplier (zoro.com) that has it for $6.95 per bag. Shipping is free for orders over $50 with account, $75 without account. I used 21 bags to fill this IBC bed ~12" deep. Drains are a bit different, no bell siphons, etc. Solids filtration is NOT recommended for sand beds (research iAVs or sandponics). Check your local landscape garden supply. I found similar material, silica sand, graded at #12, #16 and #20. Pool filter sand is a #20 - #40 range. The aforementioned products also have a range of mesh sizes. I find the #12 or #16 in my area to be the most desirable but I'm still in testing phase. The landscape supply in my area sells silica sand for ~$12 per 100# bag. I'm still working with them on super sack pricing or pallet pricing of the bags. I have 15 growbeds and 3 DWC beds. I will likely convert all 15 beds to sand and eliminate my solids filters by the end of the year. Take a look at my thread for more info. |
