I was working at my bosses aquaponics system and we were harvesting our lettuce off of the foam rafts when we noticed some odd insects. This system is a pretty well established system and is about 6 years in the making. Recently we had a problem depleted nutrients from the tilapia hybrid not eating properly. Since we have increased the temp of the water to 72*F the system has been growing like crazy. With the new change in the system we found some insects/bacteria that were on the bottom of our rafts that were in a branching pattern from one central source. It was light brownish ranging from the size of a dime to the size a silver dollar. we originally thought it was a bacteria, but upon closer inspection with a microscope, it wad moving!! there seemed to be many small organisms attached to each-other to create the branching pattern. they were all moving in a squeezing/nutrient sucking motion.
