How much iron should a system have? I purchased an iron checker and the results came back at 0.13 ppm. From what I’ve found I should have 2-3 ppm. Is that correct? My system is pretty small with a few goldfish and I only grow strawberries. Right now my system is in the dormant stage since it’s outside and the water temp Is usually in the low 40’s till spring. Thanks! |

It depends on what plants someones growing. Some plants would need a lot more than others & one plant might rob it all. I don't think it's a set amount that a system should have/need,add Iron only if you see an Iron deficiency. In small systems,Iron deficiency is usually down to the PH.A lockout rather than an actual deficiency in the system. |

I run a constant 2mg/l of Fe DTPA iron using the checker, this grows everything from lettuce to Tomatoes with no issues, if you use Tilapia its more beneficial for then as they accumulate iron in the livers. |
