hey ppl newbie here i have a pond setup with a growbed above it and have celery, beetroot and carrots growing.

My question is how often do you add iron and do you just add it to the water or the growbed?? as my celery leaves have a slight yellow tinge to them...

Also how effective is duckweed in reducing algae... my pond gets sun from 10-2 and thats enough to send it very green in a few days..

thanks guys

I add one teaspoon of iron chelate dissolved in a watering can, per thousand litres of grow bed about once a month or so.
Good to see another Vic on board.

I add it to the fishtank just near the pump when it is in its pumping cycle to the grow beds.

I have a 5KL FT and 1KL sump. I add a teaspoon of Chelated Iron per week and about the same of Sulphate of Potash for flowering. It is added direct to the FT.

Tony

Idea I had a little while ago was to add spring water for iron deficiency. Around here all (nearly) the springs have high iron contents and some of the minerals springs have these great big long red slushy mud below as the iron has precipitated out of the water.

Would work I think, but how much spring water would you need to add?

Why not just add some of the mud.

Post subject:

Well you could but once it has precipitated out isn't it just rust and therefore not available to the plants?

Instead of complicating things just add a teaspoon of cleated iron [yates brand ] once every 3 weeks
