Hey all!

I am using a small system of 50liter and 60x40 expanded clay ebb and flow grow bed in my house. I have a few tropical fish that likes it on 24c.
It getting colder now and I noticed that my heater is having trouble keeping up. I thought about it and it seems that a expanded clay grow bed is a perfect instrument to loose heat from the top and then the water come back colder.
I am rebuilding some parts and thought about making it more efficient.
I thought about making the grow bed as a sort of terrarium. I would keep the side doors open to not have too much moisture but not to loos all the heat so my fish would be happy and I'll save on electricity bill.
Another way to go is to use a fabric as a dome.

Any thoughts?

Options are to insulate the sides and bottom of the growbed and fish tank where possible. And as you suggest put a "greenhouse"/ terrarium over the growbed.
