Hello I am planning a rather large build in the future. It is a CHIFT PIST design. It will be a 2500 gal tank and a 2500 gal sump. 3-330 gal IBC filters. Flow through media beds and DWC then another flow through filter before entering the sump. My question is how big does the pipes need to be from the tank all the way to the sump need to be and from the pump back to the tank? TIA

You can use this chart to see the gravity flow rating of PVC pipe, assuming a 1x per hour FT changeover looks like 3-4" depending on your amount of drop and 90s/other flow restrictions for the main distribution pipe from the FT to your filters and GBs. From your sump to FT will depend on your pump but I imagine ~1.5".
