Hello,

Im trying to build a dwc growbed which is directly on the ground. The way my fishtank/sump is built the water level is a few inches above the ground. The bottom of the growbed would also be a few inches below the fishtank/sump water level. The stan pipe height will be atleast 9/10 inches above the fishtank water level but i plan on the plumping going under ground by about half a foot and then back out the ground and into the fish tank.

I'm still trying to get to grips with waterlevels so any help would be appreicated.

Thanks,

Az :thumbright:

I'm not sure I understand the layout but it sounds like your setup will be OK as long as the DWC water level set by the standpipe is above the water level in the fish tank/sump. The water level will come up to the top of the DWC standpipe and flow over into the pipe running underground going to the fish tank/sump. I'm assuming that the water exits this underground pipe and flows into the fish tank/sump above the surface of the water in this tank (which would create some splashing and help with keeping the water oxygenated). Keep the height of the flow into the fish tank/sump below the top of the DWC standpipe otherwise the standpipe won't be setting the DWC depth, your inflow pipe into the fish tank/sump will.

Hope this isn't too confusing but ask if you have questions.
