Does anyone know if oyster shells will work well in a flood and drain system? My interests are in finding free lite weight media for my AQUAPONICS SYSTEM. I'm also thinking walnut shell might be good. Any suggestions good people? Thanks |

Oyster shells are mostly Calcium carbonate,it will buffer the systems PH.But I've read that once the waters PH reaches 7.2 it stops .You would want the PH a bit lower than that (depending what plants you're growing).Walnut shell,I don't know exactly what it is.Is it inert & will it rot? |
