If you have dead fish in the tank you want to get them out asap... Depending on the size of the shrimp, they would probably end up being eaten by the fish.

I WAS GOING TO PUT THE SHRIMP IN THE FIRST MECHANICAL FILTER AND THE BIO FILTER. HAS ANYONE ELSE TRIED THAT?

There have been plenty of systems using gammarus to break down solids, the folks at friendly aquaponics swear by them and they are a species of shrimp but nothing like shrimp you buy in the store. They are highly effective from what I have heard but if fish can get to them don't expect them to last for long.
