Post subject:  Killing snails with iron

Hi all,

I have small (2-5mm long) snails in my growbeds. They are eating mostly dead matter (decaying leaves) but unfortunately also germinating seeds, which is a big problem...

I've heard about people here and there, controlling snails with iron compounds.
Anyone know a precise procedure and dosage to do that in aquaponics ?

Iron phosphate ? Chelated iron ?
Is it possible to do a solution of one of these and soak the growbed with it for a total elimination of snails ?

Thanks !

small tray or lid, add beer, snails go yummy yummy. you go whammy whammy with iron hammer.

my growbeds are raided and I use pool salt around the base of the beds frame, gets wet...redo.

Most people simply use the Iron based snail pellets.
Not sure for your area - but no doubt available in some commercial bait form.
