Hello.

I want to build an aquaponics system with the gravel in a box with LxWxH size.
Therefore I have to dimension all the stuff I need for it.

Let's start with the gravel depth. Is it fixed? Does it depend on the plant I want to grow? Does it depend on L and W ?

thanks for your reply

A gravel depth of 300mm is widely recommended.

The majority of bio-filtration, which keeps the fish alive and healthy in an Aquaponic system, takes place in the wet gravel in the grow beds. A 300mm gravel depth provides sufficient bio-filtration to allow an amount of fish to be safely stocked in the system that will provide a suitable amount of nutrient for most veggies that people commonly want to grow.
