I'm sure I'm overthinking something in this but can a bell siphon be designed to drain from it's top instead of out the bottom? I'm seeking to make my system design as compact as possible and I'm considering lifting the main fish tank up to install the sump under it and the two grow beds. I may just lift the grow beds higher. |

Not sure I get what you mean, but if you want to make it more compact, lose the sump. You could even lose the growbeds if you're wanting it even more compact, float the plants on the fish tank. |

Not sure exactly what you mean but you can exit at the top of your GB/tank with a u-siphon. Or if you need to move water from one tank to another that are close to each other other vertically you can make a bridge. Both pictured below. Attachment: u and bridge.png [ 2.58 KiB | Viewed 4374 times ] |

This was my original plan, though reading through the growth seen in CF I'm questioning the need for bell siphons or even that large of a sump tank... Maybe as emergency water capture in case I need to empty a bed fast? Still should be able to add a long sump under the FT and both beds in this setup by raising the FT up on a level with the bottom of the grow beds. |

Do folks using CF beds still include worms to digest solids? |

I have worms in CF growbed. They seem to do well. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |
