it's not for an aquaponics system, but i want to make a window in the side of a 600 liter ibc, and since aquaponics ften use ibc totes for ther fish and growbeds i figured why not ask here. i want to get a bigger aquarium, but i don't have the money to buy even a 300 liter aquarium (and all of the necessary pumps/heaters/etc). a 600 liter ibc is a lot cheaper and if i can make a nice window panel and make a wooden cover around it, i'd have a very nice looking aquarium. however ibc totes are flexible so glass is not a good idea, as it will probably break due to tension, plexiglass possibly has the same problem. what would be the best option for this project? |

I think you could go with this method (note a couple of repair videos from this install might also tell you what to watch for) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGj-qqxSUMc |

it seems like a good material, i read it is sronger than plexiglass. but i have no idea how thick it would need to be. if i can indeed use relatively thin polycarbon it would certainly fall within my tiny budget. |

i have decided against making a window in an ibc, i don't want to risk that much water over the floor, going for an indoor pond idea. |
