 Post subject: FT tubes bending

Have scored 12 3m length NF tubes. they have been stored vertically for awhile
:shock: so you guys I plan to join them into 6m lengths but how do i stop them from bowing and what type of stand/frame do I put them on.

I've never used them so I'm not sure about the frame. You might be able to strap them to a straight board so they don't bow. Something like saran wrap with a wide profile (you can get 3" wide rolls of self adhesive wrap) will probably work well. Bungee straps would work but might bend the edges.

in my set up I have NFTs.

At first install, after the weight of plants and water they would bow and create an overflow situation.

So I purchased 1 x1.5 inch pine boards, turned on side, screwed into the sides and used them as ribs for the NFT. I had old 5 inch black pipe that i cut 1 inch pieces and then halved. THose keep the NFT tubes in place.

Don't mount evenly across. Like rain gutters, I allowed a degree or two of drop to ensure smooth water flow down to GBs.
