for my first system i plan on using one or two old 30 gallon aquariums that i have sitting around. I want to build an ebb and flow system and use a powerhead to pump the water from the tank to the GB's. just some confusion on the setup of the system. obviously the pump is running on a timer in order to flood the GB's. what about water circulation for the fish? do you use an airstone to provide o2 in between flood/drain cycles? also, powerheads as pumps to the GB, do you use a valve or something to control flow? I know my little powerheads on my reef tank can put out a pretty strong flow. |

please, yes, use an aerator for the fish tank pump flow, if the output is too strong for the grow beds, put a T in the pipe and direct some of the flow back to the fish tank for extra aeration. |
