Hi everyone. Has anyone played around with this? I built it, but as I was building it I began to think that roots would get stuck badly in the bottle caps.

I'm planning on sitting it on top of my 55 gallon tank & putting something like basil, but as of now its a laundry room decoration.

Thanks,
Felix

They are more suited for flood and drain hydroponics. I personally think that they are not suited for large plants because of the lack of root space.

basil would be ok I think , just watch that the roots of any plants downt go wild & get down into those pipes

Dandeeman used this growing method (hydro) to produce a reasonable crop of "peppers".... maybe PM him for advise....

For AP....hummm, think there might be better ways....

with those bottle systems just make sure that it is relatively easy to pull bits apart and clean out the root clogs. Stick with smaller plants too is my opinion. If you don't have a huge amount of sun in the location something like different fancy lettuces and red kale might be a lovely eddible decoration.
