Post subject:  Chlorine Barrels for growbeds
Hello All

I am brand new to Aquaponics and I am designing a system to put in place of my soil garden green house. I have read a couple books and developed some ideas converting my greenhouse. My question(s) is the grow beds, I found a source of blue 55 gal plastic barrels. I was going to cut them in half and use them for my grow beds. They all contained CHLORINE CLEANER.

Are these safe to use as grow beds?

If so, what process do you recommend to do to clean them? They have been out in the yard for a couple years.

Any more details on the cleaner? If it were me I'd probably use them. I suspect as long as you clean and rinse them well they will be fine especially after having set this long but if you can still smell the cleaner or you get sudsing then keep rinsing. There may be something I don't know about the cleaner though so can't be certain :dontknow:
