does the exit port on the siphon have to be larger then the water pump tubing to set up a automatic siphon

No, but you do want to be able to adjust the flow on your pump. Inflow to the growbed will need to be a little less than outflow through the autosiphon.

Hey V:
I have had loop siphons set up where one 1/2 tube fed two beds each with a 1/2" loop siphon, so yes the siphon tubing shohould be a bit bigger than the pump tubing. If it were the same diameter it would likely not flow fast enough to outpace the pump.

does someone have a drawing of a gooseneck siphon that works?

This is what i have set up right now... basicly i took a garden hose and a couple 45degree elbow peices and put it through the wall of the gutter. then put a chunk of garden hose on each end of the elbow peices...

then i drilled a hole in the siphon garden hose and stuck a air hose in it. and made a spacer that keeps it half an inch above the tip of the siphon

so its siphoning but now its just siphoning till it gets to the tip of the airhose instead of the tip of the garden hose
and then it just gurgles and wont break the siphon...

Hey V, try it without the air hose, or maybe the air hose is too wide. I am running loop siphons with garden hose and no extra air devices.

I changed the design and im running a siphon directly out the bottom of the GB instead of the side now and its working like a champ!

i need to add the gravel i got from the nearby river tomorrow morning and then start cycling it while i go to work tomorrow.

maby pick up some gold fish on way home from work.
