Hey all,

I was reading Joels book last night and he started his system by cycling the water with Seasol fertiliser.

I am wondering how it would go with Charlie Carp instead (or also)?

I am just about to resurrect my worm farm too, and was thinking that it might be a good idea to run some of the liquid worm casting through when I have the fish going to help provide diversity for the fish?

Any thoughts?

I had been thinking about something similar myself. I have got so used to feeding plants over the years to get quicker results and I was thinking that diluted worm juice would be a suitable foliar fertiliser but was wondering what the benefits might be. I can't see that it would be harmful at all.

Seasol is not a fertiliser. So it would be an also if you are looking to up nitrogen levels.

About the Seasol, you are quite right it is not a fertiliser it is a plant tonic and excellent to reduce transplant shock in plants. I used it to wash the roots before planting into the grow beds and didn't lose a seedling. Seasol also helps to build strong cell walls and therefore helps the plant to resist attack by insects and disease. Fertiliser can weaken cell walls and therefore leave it succeptible to attack.

I have used a mix of seasol and charlie carp in new systems to help give the new plants some nutrients..

I have used Charlie carp in small amounts just to keep my system ticking over and all is well this far :)
