I am having difficulties obtaining fish. I can get zebra Tilapia. Are they edible? People normally put them in their aquariums.

[quote]/Heterotilapia buttikoferi (also known as Zebra Tilapia) is a species of cichlid that can are native to West Africa, specifically Liberia. They are freshwater fish that tend to live in coastal rivers and streams.[2] People have imported and bred them throughout the world for both aquatic and nutritious purposes[quote]

canabino, the last part of the above from your wikipedia link would suggest that they are edible.

Did you finally tried? Could you recommend this species for a hot water aquaponics system (20 degrees Celsius)?

Body shape looks almost like a regular tilpia, and regular tilapia are GREAT eating (according to me and many at least), so I would suspect the zebra tilapia is also great or at least good eating as well.
