Well I'm having a go at rearranging most of my fish tanks and converting most to aquaponics. Anyway I was wondering about stocking levels? I've got an 80l tank that's very heavily stocked by aquarium standards with three peacock eels (grow to about 30cm, maybe 2cm wide) and a rainbow shark(grows to 15 cm) Anyway, I've got 4 guppies and a molly I'd like to add, would a couple of plants handle this? or should I try for more? and what plants will grow indoors without extra light and no direct sunlight at all? Lol by combining the fish I'm hoping to free up a tank for either an axolotl or some aussie natives. |

Started setting up an aquaponics system.. Yes its small LOL. but am going to dig up a fern since the one I'm using in the goldfish tub seems to be thriving, from what I've read as long as water runs past the roots continously the overall size dosnt really matter. 
Just behind the input tube at the front where all the bubbles are is the output tube, its a few cm above the water level so it aerates the water 
Now 2 down, only 9 more to go LOL |

Hmph, still bored LOL, have another question, by combining the guppies I'll have a spare 75l tank, there are so many larger fish I've drooled over but couldnt have because the tanks not big enough, but would I be able to have a kissing gourami in it? |

cuti, use an indoor plant that is naturally fast growing and requires little light. there is a crreping one with nice leaves. i think mum might have one will try and sneak a pic

Do you mean wandering jew? LOl any opinions on using larger then normal fish to stock the empty tank? I guess though theres still the prob of the fish feeling cramped even with clean water... |

Hmph well the guppies are now in the eel tank, the bliddy male just died on me, I am never ever buying inbred fragile fish again LOL, these guppies are the only survivors of over 25 guppies I've bought that have died. |

I found the same with a lot of the feeder goldfish I've bought in the past, they just kept dieing... Mollies are working much better for me, they don't stop breeding, pretty colours, and they are extremely tough..

Lol molly's haven't worked either, I have one remaining molly from the many many ones I went through. Marino reigns kind of the tank over the gups. Actually goldfish have proved the toughest yet, we dont have feeder goldfish(they use mollys and platys instead) but have "common"goldfish which is basically any breed of goldfish in bronze that are really tough. |
