i had an idea today in my system that im deaming up i want to have 3 tanks of about 1 m cubed (i figure this would be 1000L each)so i can keep a few different things and have it high enough that the bub cant fall/climb in. this is causeing me a few headaches as im not really sure what to use as a tank then i saw a concrete well liner/ soak well and thought if i either cement the bottom or line them with a pond liner that might make a pretty neat tank and was wondering if anyone thought it a good idea and also if anyone knows roughly how much they cost ive done a web search but not had a lot of luck CHeers |

Del check out 'C' store there has got to be one near morley, go the pond liner.. if you go the concrete sump liner, glue some carpet to the concrete, specially over the edge which will be rough, to reduce impact to the liner. Is it a 4' or 5' dia? C1 |

umm you might have to elighten me to the C store C1 and im not really sure what size, it was just a thought i had, as with most things it will mostly depend on price |

C store being clarkys for liners, pond shops charge more. As far as concrete, well it doesn't have to be. could be a piece of steel tube(they make them big) an old boiler(hehe got one of them) C1 |

hey c1, why not recycle that old boiler that must have a copper lining, they usually weigh a .... load and the copper recycling prices atm are fantastic. we got rid of an 81kg copper tank just last year from an old boiler. more than pays for a decent new tank a $5.50/kg |

Stevo, they are 2 different stores "B" - Bunnings is a large warehouse style home improvement store (edit, also hardware and really good toys  )
"C" - I think is Clark Rubber which has the pond liners, foam for mattresses type of store (and not as large) (edit, also above ground swimming pools and equipment) (thanks Les )

Delgrade It would be easy to cut up some weldmesh and padlock it over the top of the tanks so that Baby is 100 % safe. Take no chances with baby + water my friend. |

What's wrong with an IBC? They are just the right size, cheep, and you dont have to cut the top off so bub wont fall in. |

ahhh but if i did get an IBC it would cut the top off(and take it out of its frame but i would re-frame it with rail sleepers), its going to be a water feature and a grow out tank you see thats why i dont want to put a cover (weldmesh or other) the plan is to have the tanks agains a fence then infront have a waterfall and a wetland growbed type thingy (its all in my head ) but i want to be able to see the fish CHeers For the input though guys i was hoping to price the well liners this arvo to see how much cheaper they would be verses rainwater tanks, but thininking about it if i got 3 IBC for say $ 170 each thats a total of $ 510 which is around the price of a single rainwater tank of a simiar size (1000 L), so they might keep me in with the finance minister CHeers Pete |
