So I'm looking around my basement yesterday, and lo! behold the submersible float-switch activated sewage pump sitting in a box. I had this for a house I was going to install it in, but ending up selling.

Look a little to the left, and there are about 15 rubbermaid storage bins, some of which are empty!

Got some 4' flourescent light ballasts for free from our local freecycle list.

I think all I need to create a system out of this is some PVC, aquarium silicone, a drill bit for making holes, and gravel.

LOL, the pump is WAAYY too powerful for a small setup.

Looks like I'm going to have to create a step-down system with a significant portion going directly back to the tank.

Also got 50 L non-brand irregular hydroton for $20 US. Seemed like a good price. Turns out there's a hydroponics store 5 minutes from my house.

Fixed my problem with a large header tank and lots of packing tape!

Looks like I'll be starting a member system topic shortly.

The store near me has a website. http://www.atlantishydroponics.com

http://www.atlantishydroponics.com/Merchant5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AH&Product_Code=LECA320&Category_Code=orgmed

links straight to the stuff I got. Not sure what the shipping costs would be though.
