a little update on the monster Boyu air pump.
My pump was making a funny noise yesterday so I took it apart and checked the battery - Way down - like 10V!
A new battery and all is well. This suggests 2 things to me 1. Chinese gadgets come with the cheapest nastiest batteries it is possible to buy and 2. the unit was no longer providing the necessary backup. Fortunately this was/is not a problem as my main power supply is fine. I might post this to the equipment list as well.

That's not good news JA. I've not used my Boyu a lot. It is plugged in at the moment, but not turned on to pump. I must admit that when I bought it I thought there would be a function which would allow me to have it turn on only when the power turns off, but this does not appear to be the case (not that I've played with it much).

Steve,
as far as I can tell it is supposed to run on 240V most of the time and only switch to 12V if the 240V goes off. And while running on 240V it charges the 12v battery.
I think I calculated that it would run for about 6 or 7 hours , on 12V , if the 240V went off but I can't actually remember the numbers.
