Update on my eany meany mini system..
Away on holidays for 10 days got back last night to find one heater destroyed..The water level had dropped too low..causing the heater to be exposed and overheat the glass..The water loss was due to evaporation..transpiration from the plants in the hothouse. Had to replace about 20l of water. Notice more algae (the brown type?) growing on the walls and bottom of the tub too..had a neighbour feed the fish while I was away..lucky they didnt get a zap from the broken heater :evil5:
In a large system would suggest some type of makeup supply..

Some updated pics of the system..Harvested most lettuce and wombok and rocket and planted mixed salad seeds..came up in about 2 days..

Got a test kit and did some tests

pH 7.4
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10-15
