I must note for the records that up to today another 18 hours has been spent.

Yesterday -

Painted the bits in prep for the iron. 3 coated the two pieces going across the pond for a cover and finished this frame.

Added second nog line for back windows.

Ummed and aaahed. I can build ok... but tin? I thought about the things involved, overlaps, angles and bits cut off both ends of some. I ummed and aaahed, I sighed. When the lads next door got home early (two roofers :D ) I did admit my shortcomings humbly and offering a box of yeasty beverages procured their services then and there.

1 hour! They put two walls on for me in 1 hour. 8)

Cost of tin - box of beverage. This country was built with no 8 wire and boxes of bevvies.

Added handful of lime to water had slipped down to 6.6. Up to 6.8 today.

Today, pink batts (2 bags for 2 walls). Cost $180. Mates rates... $100. :)

Mylar reflective white side out. Cost - nothing, real cost - ? This stuff smells a bit nasty but it does go away. It's a new product thing I think.

Painting battens to put plastic in place. 40 metres, may need less, cost - dig a garden (1 hour). Real cost - ?

Fed fish lightly for first time. Only 12 degrees in the water and they ate.

Ran out of Mylar :( More coming :)

Fixed a flaw where the internal ceiling had nowhere to fix to. Bit of cunning placing of battens, still got nice lines.

As for battening the plastic, got me a bit flummoxed. One side is under a flashing on the roof so I guess I do that last to hide mistakes under the flashing, and the large wall has a flashing on one end...

I'll get my head around it. Want it to look nice as well as functional.

It's lookin great so far - photos honest!

hahahaha. ;)

This Orando grew no brain. They somehow knew this before it was only 3 cm and I purchased it as a feeder.

This fish has helped cycle 2 systems and 2 tanks, she is home now, unless I sell her! About 25+cm, 3 yrs old.

Damn, that looks magnificent. Top effort. Gotta keep up with the Jones's now, and get back to mine! Motivation is staring at me from behind a red brick house in New Zealand!

Thanks people.

So many thanks go into this project. Best I list some so I don't forget who was behind me at ground level.

Peter on one side of me who taught me to build ever so patiently, and advised me how to strengthen things for load bearing without ruining the looks of it. Such a good teacher I was ready enough to try something like this.

The Notley Crew. 7 folk on the other side. For - Timber discounts, freebies, putting my tin on, nogging the roof when I could barely lift my hammer anymore, photography, meals, cups of coffee.

Tone-e. Loans of equipment and various fixing freebies.

Keg. Lots of free PVC pipe, and pumping my cause up to local scientists.

And you folk, for advice and ideas and nagging me to finally nag enough to get the photos.

And God, for keeping me sane and safe through the past few months.

I am very very grateful.

Mylar didn't show..., hopefully today, got to measure all the painted battens, trim and touch up ends, write positions on them in preperation for putting on the plastic. Need screws and staples, shops, ughh.
