Rupert - styrene deteriorates in sun doesn't it. The stuff they use in VI and USA etc in their raft systems is called blue board (different to our blue board - their is styrene). I think it may be UV trated. They also paint the bottom with a natural latex I think. I would be concerned with leaching issues if it weren't sealed in some way.

EB- do you recall how wide the cutouts were--75mm sq?
and guessing the width would be 1-1.2 mtrs.
asuming 75mm X 1.2 the cost would be in the $70 range to do a
5.0mtr x 1.2 GB(prolly 2 sheets 2.4x1.2 lattice ) anyone bought lattice of the kind we're talking of ?
C1
timber wood(pun) be a one off purchase

the styrene wuld be fine if you could get hold of some without the fire retardants (leaching wise)

Just done some quick googling and yep looks like it's all got fire retardant additives of some degree or other.....

So what do guys like Wilson use for their floating rafts????

... and normal styrene boxs, used extensively as hydro kits .....

... or even the humble broccoli box lids???
