you are meant to read the Amm and Nitrite after 5 minutes RWTD, but uneaten food can do it, not only that it can poison the water similar to us eating an off prawn, Nitrate is not a problem, a fish pathologist wrote to me about it and I have that posted in my thread somewhere when I had Pygmy Perch with strange blisters, high RATE will only be a problem if breeding fish, my Rate has been as high as 40+ probably lack of plants causing it but your system is working, Rite is what I thought you said was high, but I would still suggest the food is the problem

I can confirm pH wasn't the cause of fish deaths but it was still a testing mistake, my pH at the moment is just blue on the low test so it would be 5.8 - 6, the new fish are living happily after 4 days and feeding well and I just tipped them in like the last lot, I have no doubt that dead yabbies and possibly regurgitated food from the red fin poisoned the water, so be careful about over feeding as even uneaten pellets will cause problems eventually, I am over yabbies and will soon get some freshwater cobbler to be bottom feeders
