I seem to remember" Joel" on the ABC saying the water should smell fresh and any other odour was a good indicator of problems. Gee that's a few years back now,.....,it could be on the CD's too,.....,now wherearemy AP CD's....hmmmmm

It depends somewhat on what you're feeding them. Mine are located in the basement so I can get a good sense when something is wrong. The previous feed in the Winter had more protein and so had a fishier smell, the newer stuff has less protein so it doesn't smell as fishy. The water itself doesn't have a bad smell, but to have it evaporating inside the house it does infuse the basement when the door has been closed all night. Outside would be no problem whatsoever.
