Hello to all.

I have been reading the forum like crazy soaking in all the good oil. Spend a couple of hours today trying to get cheap drums and IBC's but look like the suppliers around have got a whiff that they might be more valuable these days.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with you all.

Welcome BR :)

Ah yes, supply and demand, its what makes the world go round.

And just today i was reading in the news that the governments solution to the incredible petrol prices is no, not to lower excise %, but to give EVERYONE a $1000 LPG conversion subsidy.

Surely there are smart enough people getting paid far more than me, that SHOULD realise that once every man and his dog have converted to LPG the demand will push prices up. DER! Especially when its directly related to how much crude is fractionated.

Oooh, sorry bout that went on a bit of a tangent, it was frresh in my mind

We're not all lunatics here..................i think Joyce is still sane :)

Welcome again!

Oooohh Yeahh!! This looks like it could be productive fun. My wife and I realised quite a while ago that we were going to have to feed ourselves in our old age coz' no one else was going to, and this system seems to fit in with the overall plan. We have a 3/4 acre block on the Adelaide Plains, and the PLAN includes chooks, meat rabbits, veges etc., and now, fish - just as soon as I finish building the house (for us, not the fish !!). Scrounging for parts has begun!
I've enjoyed reading the posts, lotsa good advice and experience, and I hope to be able to contribute sooner than later.
Nice to meet you all - Big Mick

Hi BigRed

I actually bought a few blue barrels on Saturday morning from Morayfield before the GA segment because I expected a rush on them over the next few weeks. I don't know if that was actually needed but I did notice the price was $25 each, up from $19 a few months ago.

cheers
Derek

LPG sidebar : WA has had a $500 subsidy for conversion for many years, and it went up to $1000 a week or so ago. If the federal govt gomes to the party, it will make near $0 cost for dedicated LPG here.

And in Adelaide, at the ex-government auctions, prices of LPG powered falcons etc have risen by $2000 in the past couple of weeks, and the petrol powered equivalents have dropped by $2000.

Re LPG - when we've all committed to gas watch little johnny or his successor whack a 35% levy on the stuff and take all the fun outof it. Pessimistic outlook, maybe, but we're dealing with politicians here, not humans. They love a new cash cow!
As the man said, "Don't vote for them, it only encourages them."

Here's cheers - Big Mick

I don't mind so much paying tax here as we have got it pretty good, but I really object to being so dependant on those people from over there. I would rather pay 1.30 a ltr for our own gas than be putting money in the pockets of overseas countries for their stinking oil. They really have us by the short and curleys.
Why, Why, Why, is someone not doing something about it. We are racing headlong to disaster as a nation while we continue to buy from such people and not be masters of our own future.
