Fair enough.

I guess it's just the thought of needlessly dumping waste into a tank that causes me to think about alternative ways to sort this.

I'm designing a system for my basement, and originally I was going to have a 300 gallon ft using a SLO to a media based gb overflowing to a dwc gb overflowing to a sump and back to my ft. However, I've run into an issue where I can't fit a 300 gallon ft down into my basement. Is it possible to have 2 150 gallon tanks plumbed together and have a SLO in both of them flowing to the media based gb? Or would that even work? :dontknow:
Please let us know what route you decided to go, concerning this little endeavor.

I don't think it would be that big of a deal either since they'll all end up in the same place anyways...my media filled GB. So question #2 any recommendations for fish tanks? Id like a rounded container but if I have to I'll just use two 150 Rubbermaid stock tanks.

there isnt a problem SLOing from one tank to the other, i used to have tanks setup like this.

however you really need to make sure you have SLOs that are efficient, i had 0 solids in my round tanks, etc.

if stocking density is fairly high, then the hardier fish should be in tank 2.

e.g. i stocked trout in tank 1, goldfish in tank 2.

my stocking density was never high though.

I'm back after all this time. Moving homes, switching careers, and starting college put a hold on all my plans, but I'm finally starting back up. I scrapped the two tank idea and built a 6ftx3ftx3ft tank in my basement. Have yet to build the grow beds and get everything setup though. Better late than never right?
