I use a 7-10mm drainage gravel. It seems to work very well.

I've ordered the pea gravel it should arrive Friday morning. Has any one used a screen setup to wash it or just use a bucket. If my figures are correct I'm looking a washing 2-3 tons of rock I'm going to get my kids friends to help I HOPE

I don't think any of us have a big enough screen to use for washing

I washed my gravel a little at a time in a screen colander. Total of 570 liters (150gal) worth.

I welded together a steel frame and stretched shadecloth opver it, shoveled the rock onto the screen and rinsed it off. Worked a treat.

i just used a bucket....and emptied the half full 1000l rainwater tank :blush:
have used a large screen for sifting sand before though, just shovelling it against the screen at an angle...wouldn't have been able to hold the weight of much gravel though (that and it was too far away to use anyway)
